The International ICT Awards is now in its 14th year as the leading and most prestigious annual ICT awards event in the Philippines. Major milestones in the history of the event have been:

In 2006 the Canadian Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (CanCham) Board of Trustees approved the proposal of its First Vice President, Richard Mills, to organize an annual international ICT awards event to recognize excellence and raise public awareness of the best companies in the then-nascent call-center and business process outsourcing industry in the Philippines.

 

2007: 1st International ICT Awards Philippines

DATE & PLACE: March 1, 2007 for first time at the Renaissance Manila City Hotel

ORGANIZER: CanCham with the Organizing Committee chaired by Richard Mills, Vice President of CanCham

PREMIER SPONSORS: Five9 Philippines; and PLDT Business Solutions.

2008: 2nd International ICT Awards Philippines:

DATE & PLACE: March 13  2008 at the Renaissance Makati City Hotel.

    • The 2 Awards in 2007 for ICT Contributor of the Year Award - Public and ICT Contributor of the Year Award – Private were combined in 2008 as a single ICT Contributor of the Year Award.
    • The 2007 Best Mid-Size BPO Company of the Year was replaced by two: Best Mid-sized BPO Company of the Year – Foreign owned and Best Mid-size BPO Company of the Year – Locally owned.

2009: 3rd International ICT Awards Philippines

  • Two 2008 awards Best Mid-sized BPO Company of the Year – Foreign owned and Best Mid-size BPO Company of the Year – Locally owned were recombined in 2009 as a single Best Mid-sized BPO Company of the Year
  • A new Multi-sourcing BPO of the Year award was added in 2009.

2013 - 7th International ICT Awards Philippines

In 2013 the Organizers, after consultation with the Title Sponsors, decided to open up nominations for the first time to all companies providing services in the Philippines but with some limitation applicable to eligibility for some specific awards

2014 - 8th International ICT Awards Philippines

In 2014 the Organizers, after consultation with the Title Sponsors, started to broaden the scope of award categories to cover a wider range of ICT services.

ORGANIZER: CanCham with IBPAP as Associate Organizer and with the Organizing Committee chaired by Cora dela Cruz, Executive Director of CanCham.

Inauguration of the Hall of Fame Award for winning a specific award 3 times in successive years

  • Four awards in 2013 were not offered in 2013: Shared Services Excellence of the Year; Emerging Services Excellence if the Year; The Fastest Growing BPO of the Year; and Quality Program of the Year.
  • These were replaced by four new awards (some with scope overlapping those not offered): Best Filipino-owned Company of the Year; Best Global In-house Center of the Year; Best Non-Voice Excellence Company of the Year; and Best Voice Excellence Company of the Year.
  • A Hall of Fame Award was added in 2014 for companies that won the same category award for three successive years.

2015 - 9th International ICT Awards Philippines

The Organizing Committee, after consultation with the Title Sponsors, decided and it was announced that the maximum number of Finalist would be limited to five (5) with finalists announced at the Gala event and no longer in advance.

The Organizers, after consultation with the Title Sponsors, given feedback about lack of transparency on what basis judges were selected and made their decisions as well as transparency on weighting given to published judging criteria, also revised and published:

  • The criteria for selection of judges and composition of the Judging Panel
  • The procedure for the Judging Panel to adjudicate
  • The grounds and procedure for appeals about a decision of the Judging Panel
  • The composition of an Appeal Board.

The Organizers, after consultation with the Title Sponsors, given feedback about transparency on weighting given to published judging criteria, also revised and published:

  • The objectives as well as specific eligibilities for each award category.
  • The weighting to be given by judges for each judging criteria for each award category.

2016 - 10th International ICT Awards Philippines

THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INTERNATIONAL ICT AWARDS

In 2016 the Organizers after consultation with the Title Sponsors, noting the scope and focus of other ICT-related award events, decided and it was announced:

  • To focus the scope of the International ICT Awards Philippines on awards to companies as well as teams within companies and to no longer include any award categories for individuals.
  • Nominations were required to be submitted online through ICT website (with mandatory information field, to be completed) and with submission in hard copy or by email/fax format no longer accepted.
